So I worked at this place one summer called Jackson Lake Lodge. Jackson Lake Lodge is a historic building located in Grand Teton National Park. The peaks of the tetons tower through the clear large glass windows of the historic wonder. I wondered around the property in awe of the preservation of the areas culture. You could feel the history as you glided through cabin-to-cabin, lined with trees and the tetons peaking out between glimpses of the cabins.
So continue on to the corral, and you have a classic ranching fence, huge green hay feeders, and the historic bunkhouse and barn. The running chute was muddy from a rainy day before of saddling horses. The air was crisp with a hint of manure and dust in the air. The cool of the air filled your lungs and made you feel pure again.
A small trail through the sagebrush, leaving the sweet sweet smell of perfume scented flowers as your calves brush against the sage. This trail leads you to the fence, a shortcut over to the employee dorm.
Oh the employee dorms! How can I start? It is a village. An Employee Village! There is a bar included and everything. The “Whistle Pig”. Complete with security. Oh the security, oh wait no! That is too intimidating, we will call them “Public Safety”. The people who worked at the lodge came from all walks of life at different points of their life, searching for something in the Tetons. Or simply experiencing on of the most beautiful places on Earth.
That brought together beautiful souls in the end, and made the experience the best it could have possibly been to me.
