Trade Winds Maui Outdoor Gear Consignment

Don’t have room for your gear at home and want to sell it? Moving away and can’t take your gear? Don’t want to worry about the hassle of selling?

Trade Winds can help! Simple. We do all the work for you. You bring your items we set the prices. 50/50 split on the sale price. With the space, security, and time to meet interested buyers, we can sell your gear for you.

We are NEW!

Trade Winds was created June 2024 to fill a gap of outdoor gear consignments on island! We don’t have a public storefront so do everything online. We are based out of upcountry Maui with our own private and secure storage space. We meet sellers and buyers at a safe public pickup location.

How It Works

  1. Meet me with your gear… make sure it is clean, functional, and has all the part
  2. I will look over your items to determine what I can sell
  3. Fill out the paper work
  4. I will price your items based on market price, condition, and demand
  5. Receive email with consignment account information
  6. When your gear sells, I’ll contact you and give you a payout in 3-4 business days via Venmo, PayPal, or Cash App

Unsold gear or clothing will be reduced in price until sold, picked up or donated.

Can I also sell my item online or somewhere else?

  • We ask for the exclusive right to sell your item for 45 days. Please remove from Ebay, Craigslist, Marketplace etc. while your items are on the sales floor at Trade Winds.

Tips on Selling Your Items

  • Bring your gear in clean and in working condition.
  • Have reasonable expectations… if your selling used gear its typically worth 30% to 50% less than what you paid for it new.
  • Be patient… Some things sell fast… other gear needs to find just the right person to give it a new home.

Consignment Policy and Fees

We reserve the right to not accept dirty, broken, or out of season gear.

The consignment period is a maximum of 90 days.

We reserve the right to reduce the price of any item in order to facilitate its sale. Sale prices may be reduced by 15% a month after the 1st 30 days. After 90 day consignors may pick up unsold items within 14 days. If items are not picked up following the 90 day grace period, the items become property of Trade Winds.

Trade Winds will make reasonable efforts to protect your gear. However Trade Winds is not responsible for damaged, lost, stolen, or destroyed property.

Payment – Trade Winds will pay out the consignor within 3-4 business days after the item sells via VENMO, PAYPAL, OR CASH APP.

Gear Recycling and Donation

If you wish for your gear to go towards a cause, The Gearage can sell your accepted item(s) on behalf of selected outdoor/ environmental non-profits. Anything that we are not able to sell, will either be donated or recycled.
